"See first that you deserve to be a giver, and an instrument of giving.
For in truth it is life that gives unto life - while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but
a witness" - "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran
there was a girl who dreamed she was a puppet and that all her strings were
being pulled by the king and his men. She didn't mind being a puppet because the king and
his men would give her money every week and even though they controlled what she did with
the money she was happy that she had it because if she didn't a big bad wolf would come and
throw her out on the street. This made her very afraid and so she started to take the
wrinkled green paper very seriously and placed it in a very high special place in her room.
Sometimes before she went to bed she would say thank you to the money for keeping her safe.
However, suddenly the dream turned into a nightmare and the wolf came disguised as a little
old lady and dragged her from her sleep through the dark streets of the big city where she
was left alone with out her strings, to die.
As time went by people gave her food and she spent most of her time in the Park watching the beautiful butterflies. She never had any
money but it didn't seem to bother her as she was grateful to be free from the strings. One
day while sitting in the Park she spotted a 10 dollar bill blowing by, instinctively she
grabbed the note and once in her hand, began thinking about what she should do with it. She
could save it for a rainy day or buy herself something. What to do she thought. No longer
noticing the butterflies she began to grow weary and next thing she knew the Park was closing
and the day had vanished.
She walked down the road and came across another little girl who
was crying. "What's the matter?" she asked. The little girl told of how she had been
dragged from her room by a big bad wolf with nothing, and not knowing how she would survive
burst into tears. Just then the first little girl spotted a beautiful big bubble
blowing butterfly in the window of a shop across the street. Now it was easy to know what
she would do with the money. She crossed the street to the toy store and when paying for the
butterfly something magical happened something she would never forget, as she handed the money
over it seemed to transform from wrinkled green paper to beautiful golden dust. She gave the
girl the butterfly showed her how it worked and they both laughed and laughed as they
surrounded themselves with thousands of bubbles. With that the little girl woke up and
discovered she was a woman and now knowing the secret of making fairy dust, she decided to make a fairy dust factory.
